The short version: TrustReview uses minimal cookies. We rely on a small set of strictly necessary cookies to run the platform securely, plus optional functional, analytics, and fraud-prevention cookies. We do not use advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your data.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site's operators. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how TrustReview Technologies Ltd. ("TrustReview", "we", "us") uses them on trustreview.ai and within our dashboard, and the choices available to you.

We also use similar technologies — such as local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs) — that store or read information on your device. In this policy, we refer to all of these collectively as "cookies". This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Cookies may be "session" cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them. They may be set by us ("first-party") or by a service we use ("third-party").

2. How we use cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Keep you signed in and maintain the security and integrity of your session.
  • Protect against cross-site request forgery and other attacks.
  • Remember your preferences and settings so you don't have to re-enter them.
  • Understand, in aggregate, how our website and product are used so we can improve them.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, bots, and abuse — which is especially important for an identity-verification platform.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, to serve targeted ads, or to track you across other websites and services.

3. Types of cookies we use

The table below describes the categories of cookies we use. Specific cookie names and lifetimes may change as we improve the Services; we keep this list current and representative.

CategoryPurposeExamplesDuration
Strictly necessary Required for the site and dashboard to function — authentication, session management, load balancing, and security. These cannot be switched off in our systems. tr_session (login session), csrf (CSRF protection), tr_lb (load balancing) Session to ~30 days
Functional Remember your choices and preferences to give you a more personalised experience. tr_prefs (UI/theme preferences), tr_locale (language) Up to 12 months
Analytics Help us understand aggregate, de-identified usage — which pages are visited and how features perform — so we can improve the Services. We configure analytics to minimise data and respect privacy. tr_analytics (first-party usage metrics), privacy-focused product-analytics identifiers Up to 13 months
Security & fraud prevention Detect bots, automated abuse, and suspicious activity, and support device-signal checks that protect the integrity of identity verifications. tr_device (device-integrity signal), bot-detection and rate-limiting tokens Session to ~6 months

4. Third-party cookies

A limited number of cookies may be set by trusted third parties that provide services on our behalf — for example, our analytics, error-monitoring, and security/anti-bot providers. These providers act under contract and on our instructions, and they are not permitted to use the data for their own advertising purposes. We do not allow third parties to set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies through our website. Where a verification flow is embedded by one of our business clients on their own site, that client's own cookie practices and notices also apply to their site.

5. Managing your preferences

You have several ways to control cookies:

  • Cookie banner / preference centre. Where required, we present a cookie banner on your first visit so you can accept or reject non-essential cookies, and you can revisit your choices at any time through the preference link in the site footer. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent and cannot be disabled, as the Services would not function without them.
  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Search your browser's help for "cookies" — for example, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge — to manage or clear them. You can also use private/incognito mode.
  • Consequences of blocking. If you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site and dashboard — including login — may not work properly.

Because identity verification depends on certain security and session cookies, disabling them may prevent you from completing a verification or accessing your account.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no consistent industry standard for how DNT signals should be honoured, so we do not currently respond to them differently from this policy. However, because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies in the first place, our practices already align with the intent behind DNT. Where applicable law requires us to treat a recognised opt-out preference signal (such as Global Privacy Control) as a valid request, we will honour it to the extent required.

7. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
